Stout & Teague Announces Solar Energy System at 7676 New Hampshire Avenue Is Now Operational

Takoma Park, Maryland — June 2026 — Stout & Teague is pleased to announce that the rooftop solar energy system at Crossroads Professional Building, 7676 New Hampshire Avenue, has officially received Permission to Operate (PTO) from PEPCO and is now generating clean electricity for the building.

The approval was granted yesterday evening, and the solar array was immediately placed into service by project partner Aurora Energy. The timing coincides with the longest days of the year, allowing the system to begin producing energy during peak sunlight conditions.

The installation represents a significant sustainability milestone for the property and reinforces Stout & Teague’s long-standing commitment to energy efficiency and environmental stewardship. The 103-kilowatt rooftop solar array is expected to generate approximately 124,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, offsetting roughly 17 percent of the building’s total energy consumption.

Initial production data indicates the system is performing strongly. During its first full day of operation, the array generated approximately 589 kilowatt-hours of electricity, providing an encouraging early indication of its performance potential.

Visual 1: First-Day Production Dashboard

The production chart illustrates the system’s first day of operation, showing electricity generation beginning shortly after sunrise, reaching peak output during midday hours, and continuing into the evening. The system produced nearly 600 kilowatt-hours of renewable energy during its inaugural day online.

Visual 2: Live Solar Monitoring Dashboard

The monitoring platform confirms the system is actively generating power and records approximately 670 kilowatt-hours of production for the month to date. The dashboard also highlights the project’s environmental impact, including:

  • More than 1,040 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions avoided
  • The equivalent of approximately 1,180 miles driven on sunshine

These environmental benefits will continue to grow as the system operates throughout the year.

The solar project was selected after extensive evaluation of the property’s physical characteristics, energy consumption profile, and long-term ownership strategy. The building’s flat roof, unobstructed solar exposure, and full-service lease structure created an ideal opportunity to reduce operating expenses while advancing sustainability goals. Rising utility costs further strengthened the business case for investment in renewable energy.

The project was supported by a $30,000 sustainability grant from the City of Takoma Park and is expected to generate approximately $26,000 in first-year energy savings.

As Stout & Teague’s first rooftop solar installation, the project builds upon decades of energy-conscious investment and building operations, including Energy Star initiatives, green roofs, solar hot water systems, electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and LEED-certified projects.

Stout & Teague extends its appreciation to the City of Takoma Park, Aurora Energy, PEPCO, and the many individuals whose support and collaboration helped bring the project from concept to operation.
